What to compost and what not to use. Ginny will show you the basic steps to making good compost. Learn how to set up your own worm farm using reused and recycled materials and how to use your worm farm efficiently.
Whether you've got a lifestyle block or a small backyard, you can grow fruiting plants of some description. What do you want to eat? When does it ripen? What grows well where you are? This workshop covers what to grow, where to plant, preparing the site and providing protection from weather, pets and pests. There is nothing nicer than picking fresh fruit from your own garden.
Design a vegetable plot which is not only productive but also ornamental. Learn the basic principles behind potager gardening: rhythm, line, colour, texture and a focal point. Covers companion planting, growing vegetables and flowers organically, together with an introduction to some of the old 'tried and true' types from yesteryear.
Discover how to cast on, learn a variety of stitches: knit, purl, garter and stocking stitch and then how to cast off. You will start by making peggy squares to learn the basic stitches then practice your newfound skills by making a scarf. This is an introductory course designed to get you knitting! A material list will be provided upon enrolment.
